CHANGES
It is currently about Week Three of the quarantine. I am now starting to realize many things have changed. For example, the change in routine. I remember when I went to the dentist on March 22nd. There were maybe five other cars on the street, and one person walking on the sidewalk. When I walked into the dentist’s office, they immediately took my temperature and told me to take some hand sanitizer. I never had to do that before. It felt like we were contaminated. The lady at the front desk kept going back and forth cleaning every room.
And school. I usually wake up at 7:15 to get ready for school which starts at 8:05. Then, at the end of the school day, my mom is waiting to pick me up or I walk home. All the streets and sidewalks would be crowded. Now, I wake up at 7:35, have breakfast, hop in bed and open up my computer. I then close it at 11:46am.
It's odd when you realize how much things have changed. My family can't even sit right next to each other at dinner anymore because we want to be safe. I hope things get better soon.

Time since last outside: 3 weeks
It's been kind of rough for these few weeks being in my house all day and night. It gets hot alot and I can't open my window that much. The news says that over the next week or so it will get really bad. There are already 1,300,000+ cases globally. I live in the epicenter of all this chaos, the United States of America. Almost 350,000 cases in this one country, and 10,000+ people dead from this virus. People can't even get a ventilator when they need one. Masks that used to cost $0.70 are now $7.00 because of how high of a demand they are in. Small hand sanitizer bottles now cost $3.00. This also ruin the education system. We can't go to school in person, we have to do it online which i believe isn't good at all. This is why it's been really rough these past few weeks.
BEING SOCIAL WHILE DISTANCING. Haley Daikalo, Class 701, stays connected to friends.
Denise Gonzalez, Class 704
This situation is honestly cool. One day, we were all just talking to each other and hanging around, and then all of the sudden we can't go outside anymore. It is also really surprising how we didn't really take the Coronavirus serious at first, but now, many people are dying and it already spread to the whole world.
But I'm honestly happy because since many people aren't outside anymore, the world is getting better and pollution has gone down since the quarantine. It seems like it was only yesterday where I was talking to my friends, watching a video in class, eating lunch and laughing with other people. But that was almost a month ago.
I have really enjoyed staying home from school, but it honestly gets boring sometimes, and then there's nothing to do. Also, my parents are not working, so there is a lot less money that there used to be.
On the other hand, taking a break from school feels good. Also, since I get really bored, my parents let me try new things, such as making whipped coffee aka Dalgona Coffee. The whipped coffee reminds of an iced cappuccino and Starbucks. Before the quarantine, I used to get Starbucks every weekend in Manhattan, but now I can't. So, my mom let me make one at home! I really missed the taste.
Even though I can't go outside, and miss the fresh air, I still enjoy the quarantine since I have time to hang out with my family and can still talk to my friends.

My Coronavirus Journey
Dear Miss Lewis,

The coronavirus time has been very hard and stressful. It has been hard because we have to stay home and we can’t go outside. Also, it has been stressful because people are not going to work and they may have lost their jobs. Kids have to do online schooling because the schools have shut down.
It has been hard during the Coronavirus time because we have to stay home. We can't go outside. You have to stay 6 feet away from people. Our family can’t come over or see us because nobody can step out of their house to go see someone unless it is urgent. Another reason it is bad and we can’t see your family members is because you can’t be at gatherings of more than eight people. It is sad that every time we go out we have to wear masks and gloves.
It has been very stressful during the coronavirus time. It has been very stressful because the kids have to do online schooling. Online schooling is not the same as actually going to class and it’s harder. Another reason that it has been very stressful is because a lot of adults have lost their jobs or are not working. Plus, adults have to pay rent and bills. Also, families have it very extra hard. So the coronavirus time has been very stressful.
Sincerely,
Sarah Basant - Class 602
